A Legacy of Legal Excellence

For close to five decades, Robert (“Bob”) Lawing practiced law throughout North Carolina, earning distinction as an accomplished trial lawyer and a respected member of the legal community. Though he has transitioned away from active practice, Bob’s influence remains deeply woven into the foundation and ongoing success of Robinson & Lawing, LLP.

A North Carolina native, Bob dedicated his career to representing individuals, businesses, and organizations in complex litigation, including commercial disputes and personal injury matters. His reputation for skillful advocacy, strategic insight, and unwavering professionalism set the standard for the firm’s commitment to excellence.

Though retired from daily practice, Bob Lawing’s impact continues to shape the culture and excellence of Robinson & Lawing, LLP.

Bob’s academic achievements reflect the same drive that defined his legal career. He graduated magna cum laude, first in his class, from Wake Forest University School of Law, where he also served on the Board of Editors for the Law Review and received honors including the United States Law Week Award and the Warren A. Seavy Award.

Over the course of his practice, Bob was consistently recognized by his peers and the legal community:

  • Selected to Best Lawyers in America for Commercial and Personal Injury Litigation (Plaintiff and Defendant)
  • Honored with an AV Preeminent Peer Rating from Martindale-Hubbell
  • Named among North Carolina Super Lawyers

In addition to his courtroom work, Bob contributed to the growth of the profession through teaching, mentorship, and civic leadership. He served as a CLE lecturer, an adjunct professor in trial practice at Wake Forest University School of Law, and held leadership roles in both professional and community organizations, including President of the Forsyth Country ClubElder at Highland Presbyterian Church, and Board of Visitors for the Wake Forest University School of Law.

Today, though retired from the active practice of law, Bob remains connected to the firm as Partner Emeritus, with his legacy continuing to guide the next generation of attorneys at Robinson & Lawing, LLP.
